Visit to Wild Acre Cattle Ranch and Sweet Pickins Organic Farm

Friday Morning I accompanied Oishii Chef’ Ted Dimoglou and Roadhouse Chef Jim Renaud to Wild Acre Cattle Ranch and Sweet Pickins Organic Farm

Wild Acre Cattle Ranch – Naturally Fed, No Hormones, No Steroids, Aged Beef

TOM DIVITARIS the owner was generous enough to allow us to spend time watching him process the beef answer my novice questions about the differences in his beef and the beef from your average grocer. It was very enlightening. Wait ’til you try the stir fries as you can really taste the difference. We tried a burger fresh from the cow and there was so much flavor even without any of our other Tecumseh Roadhouse proparation. We will be taking a very serious look over the next few weeks at bringing this ground beef into our establishment, its worth the added costs

Sweet Pickins Organic Farm  relies on crop rotationgreen manurecompostbiological pest control, and mechanical cultivation to maintain soil productivity and control pests, excluding or strictly limiting the use of synthetic fertilizers and synthetic pesticidesplant growth regulators, livestock antibiotics, food additives.

Chanoso’s and Oishii have already started using this beef in our stir fries and we are looking at and negotiating using this ground beef in our Tecumseh Roadhouse Burgers

Personally, I just placed an order for a basket of groceries for my home to be delivered each week for 15 weeks.

What a great time, can’t wait to bring my son and teach him the difference

Oishii, University of Windsor take top honours at 2010 Battle of Hors d’Oeuvres

Oishii Sushi Bar and the University of Windsor captured top honours at the 2010 Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor/Essex Battle of the Hors d’Oeuvres at the Ciociaro Club on Friday night.

The event, now in its 24th year, is a culinary competition between local restaurants and catering facilities.  An expert judging panel consisting of Windsor Culinary Guild president Ahron Goldman, Retired NHL Goalie Eddie Mio, WindsorEats’s Pina Ciotoli and the Windsor Star’s Ted Whipp were presented with specially prepared creations.

Local restaurants Per Bacco, Oishii, Pho Saigon and Caldwell’s Grant participated in the Restaurant Category, with Oishii winning the Critic’s Choice Award for their wrapped-in-soy-paper, “Essex County Sushi” creation.

The University of Windsor beat out competitor Caesars Windsor to win the Hospitality Critic’s Choice Award for their “One Bite Surf & Turf”, and Century High took the High School category by storm to win the Critic’s Choice Award for their “Chicken Pate Crustini”.

Veer – The movie

Saturday June 12th, we will be offering a prix fix menu for all those who want to celebrate this biking event

Anyone who bikes to Chanoso’s/Oishii that week will receive two for one appetizers, so come in pairs or on a tandem.

Oh, and by the way, I’ve committed to biking to work everyday that week as well. So if I pick up the phone when you call for reservations, that heavy breathing isn’t a crank call

Thursday Expanded Rock and Roll Sushi

Double your pleasure double your fun with Justin Raisbeck

Choose your side, on either side of Chanoso’s we’ll be serving up sushi and Rock ‘n Roll
Watch each week as we transform the Room to the right of Chanoso’s (the one we call the Buddha Room) to a more lounge type atmosphere

Welcome to Chanoso’s and Oishii

This blog completes the triumvirate of Chanoso’s / Oishii , The BBQ Blog and the Film Festival Blog.
But if I had to say, this blog would be the one blog to rule them all.

Only because there is so much happening in our downtown core
Besides the existing events of Monday Night All U Can eat Sushi and Thursday’s Rock ‘N Roll Thursday’s there is always something going on Downtown

Between Butcher Demonstrations that we’ve had, Special Guests like the Thirsty Traveller, we will always have great news to tell you
